WELCOME

Tea Party folks and right wing so-called Christians beware. The truths exposed here may blow your mind and create doubts in your beliefs. Progressives, if you would like some ammunition to counter the lies and insanity that has emerged with the likes of conservative broadcasters, pundits, politicians and ministers, I hope to provide it here. This is dedicated to the children, who are our most important resource but are often overlooked in man's and woman's pursuit of power and control.

Lies, Lies and More Lies

Well, it's time to tell the truth about a few things. I will go into more detail on each subject in a later post, but I just want to give you a preview of what is to come. 1. Everytime a shooting happens, like the one in Colorado, and near each election, the NRA starts with its propaganda and brain-washing with lie after lie. Why do they do it? To make money and to get their far right politicians elected. One lie is that you are safer if you have a gun in your home. FACT: You or someone in your home are 2.5 times more likely to get killed if you have a gun. Statistics prove this. Another lie is that the Constitution protects all weapons and ammo. FACT: The second amendment is to insure that militias are armed and ready. If you read the history of Jefferson and other framers, you would know this to be true. Next lie is that we Democrats are out to take away all weapons, so you must vote Republican. This is the biggest lie of all, meant to place fear in the minds of those who are brainwashed by their BS. FACT: some of us would like common sense about weapons and a chance to be heard. Some of us care more about children than guns. It is a shame that people who are so passionate about guns aren't more passionate about people. 2. Romney's lies and revisionist history. This will take a huge post so may have to be broken down. I'll start with the latest one: that Obama has declared war on religion. FACT: The administration requires religious businesses to provide for birth control in their heal insureance plans, but allows for ethical and religious views by allowing them to have the woman pay any additional premium involved. This does not apply to religious institutions. The next one is that Obama has gotten rid of Welfare to Work program. FACT: Romney and other Republican governors wanted the administration to allow for more flexibility in the law, so he complied. Now Romney claims it gets rid of the program altogether. What's next? Will he go back to the old birther or Muslum accusations? Will he make a whacko like Michelle Bachman his running mate? I would not put anything past him. 3. God hates homosexuals is one of the biggest lies ever perpetrated in recent times by so-called Christians. FACT: Jesus said NOT ONE WORD about the subject. But he did say, "Let he who is wIthout sin cast the first stone." So even IF you think it is a sin, it is not even mentioned by Jesus and is not a part of The Law, i.e the Ten Commandments. Most rational people know that some people are born with a brain that makes them want same sex relationships. We know there is some genetic proof, and we know that the brain sometimes doesn't "fit" the body it's in. Homosexuality, then, is as much a sin as having brown eyes and wearing blue contacts because you have always felt your eyes should be blue. Old Testament hard-core believers use that as an excuse to hate and discriminate against a segment of our society that just wants to live and let live, as Jesus suggested. They cry ADULTRY. They should read the actual description of the word in the Bible, as explained by Jesus. If a woman has been divorced, as I have, then that is adultry. If a man sleeps with a married woman, that is adultry. No mention is made of unmarrieds, gays or unmarried woman and a married man. Like any other sin of those times, women are treated more harshly. 4. Entitlement programs are for lazy, good-for-nothings. FACT: most entitlement money goes to the elderly. A small percentage goes to children and families. Where does this ideaa come from? Most of the people who think this are blatant racists or closet racists or just those who don't think for themselves and believe what they are told. Unemplyment and worker's compensation are to make sure that a person doesn't end up on the streets (and on welfare?) just because some bad luck befell them. Food stamps and SS benefits help my friends who are working single mothers with little or no child support and no or too expensive health insurance. They also help my friend who is self-employed and had a serious accident that kept him from working. He wanted to get better, have a roof over his head and eat. Is that too mush to ask? 5. Old, tired lie: Give the rich and big corporations tax breaks so the money will trickle down to the rest of us. FACT: this has been tried and failed. Under Clinton we all did better because the lower and middle classes spent more and the rich got richer. The fact is that we have always done better as a country economically under Democratic administrations. The rich hardly miss the money - a thousand to them is like pennies to the rest of us. If they were truly patriotic they could get us out of debt and still have money to burn. 6. Obama got us into this mess and has done nothing to get us out. FACT: Bush et.al. got us into this mess and the president has tried very hard to get us out. The Republicans in congress wanted him to fail so he would not get reelcted, so they blocked him at every step. He made the mistake of trying to be bi-partisan with those that hate him more than they love America. 7. Next lie: Health care reform is Obamacare and is s huge mistake that should be eliminated. FACT: health care reform is necessary and all people deserve the same benefits as those whose salaries we pay. The plan is far from perfect, but it is a start. I hate that my adopted state has spent millions of our tax-payer dollars to try to stop it in court. (I won't get started on Governor Rick, the Dick). ENOUGH FOR TODAY! Watch this spot if you can handle the truth.

It's been awhile since I blogged. Have decided to get back to it since it's an election year, and, as usual, I have much to say. For today I just want to say, I'm back. Hope I will get more feedback and followers, but I hope my friends and relatives will at least read it.
